05 Jan 10 The First Guide!

Since the conceptualization, formulation and official launch of ‘Greater Good Talk’ [GGT] there has been one question which always kept us bewildered; who should be the first person to be on GGT? Should s/he be some politician, some social worker, someone from corporate world, some celebrity or some unknown-silent worker putting in life and soul for the society? Many names are there on the list and all are good names.

After 2 months of research and discussions on who should be the one on GGT to guide us, we finally decided on one name. A name which speaks for the person himself; a name almost every Indian is aware of. He is not an actor but has a charisma of one; he is not a politician but has following like none; he is not a rock star but he is a cult. The man whose name is synonymous with modern day yoga, the man who gave yoga a new look and made it a household chore; the man who can enlighten a complete stadium full of people with his meager presence, none other than Swami Ramdevji.

Swami Ramdev who [according to claims] was fully paralysed before taking up Yoga, has taught Yoga to more than 2 crore [20 million] people through his direct camps only; the number of beneficiaries from television broadcast is still unaccounted and uncertain, although this number is estimated to be anywhere above 80 million [8 crores].

Through his yoga camps he has help people to get rid of many ailments such as Diabetes, Heart Disease, Arthritis, Thyroid Problems, Hypertension, Blood pressure, Stomach ailments and several cancer types. His techniques of using Ayurveda along with Yoga are unprecedented [in modern times] and the results have been spectacular.

To mark it in the words of Sri Sri Rabi Shanker, ‘If any individual can be credited with reviving Yoga in this country [India], it is solely Swami Ramdev. Yoga can cure even fatal diseases and he has proved it time and again. Swami Ramdev has spread Yoga to such an extent that sooner or later, one has to embrace it’.
