07 Jan 10 Questions are Welcome

When we conceptualized GGT, the only thing in mind was to make a user interactive platform, a network between the users and those who are working for greater good. Beginning with this basic idea it is time to open the platform and start with the real work.

We want the users to tell us what they have in mind; what you want to know about Swami Ramdev? What you want to ask the man who single handedly gave Yoga a new life? To sum up we welcome all the questions which you always wanted to ask Swamiji; just leave a comment, what you want this interaction to be like and we will do the rest.

05 Jan 10 The First Guide!

Since the conceptualization, formulation and official launch of ‘Greater Good Talk’ [GGT] there has been one question which always kept us bewildered; who should be the first person to be on GGT? Should s/he be some politician, some social worker, someone from corporate world, some celebrity or some unknown-silent worker putting in life and soul for the society? Many names are there on the list and all are good names.

After 2 months of research and discussions on who should be the one on GGT to guide us, we finally decided on one name. A name which speaks for the person himself; a name almost every Indian is aware of. He is not an actor but has a charisma of one; he is not a politician but has following like none; he is not a rock star but he is a cult. The man whose name is synonymous with modern day yoga, the man who gave yoga a new look and made it a household chore; the man who can enlighten a complete stadium full of people with his meager presence, none other than Swami Ramdevji.

Swami Ramdev who [according to claims] was fully paralysed before taking up Yoga, has taught Yoga to more than 2 crore [20 million] people through his direct camps only; the number of beneficiaries from television broadcast is still unaccounted and uncertain, although this number is estimated to be anywhere above 80 million [8 crores].

Through his yoga camps he has help people to get rid of many ailments such as Diabetes, Heart Disease, Arthritis, Thyroid Problems, Hypertension, Blood pressure, Stomach ailments and several cancer types. His techniques of using Ayurveda along with Yoga are unprecedented [in modern times] and the results have been spectacular.

To mark it in the words of Sri Sri Rabi Shanker, ‘If any individual can be credited with reviving Yoga in this country [India], it is solely Swami Ramdev. Yoga can cure even fatal diseases and he has proved it time and again. Swami Ramdev has spread Yoga to such an extent that sooner or later, one has to embrace it’.

03 Jan 10 Sanskar Prerna Manch

Youth and children constitute the future of any society. The mental, physical and emotional development of the children and imparting values, guidance and motivation to the youth are seeds of the tree that will bear fruits of prosperous, happy and peaceful society.

Women, being the nerve center of family system and natural guardian of their children, have to take on the responsibility of holistic development of children. To enable them fulfill this responsibility, it is essential   to the empower them. Hence the most important aspects of social development are:

1.      Indoctrination of the value system in its youth (SANSKAR)

2.      Motivation and empowerment of the weaker selections specially Women (PRERNA)

3.      Providing forum for involvement of maximum no. of people in building of a peaceful and prosperous society (MANCH)

SANSKAR PRERNA MANCH is a non profit, non government organization, outcome of amalgamation of thoughts and ideas of professionals from different fields. Its trustees include eminent educationalists, businessmen, doctors, politicians, housewives etc.

In the last 10 years of its existence SPM has been working for empowerment of women in urban slums, and spreading the value system through religious programs.

Its mission is to progress towards a peaceful and prosperous society through empowerment of weaker sections, sensitization of the society towards them and indoctrination of moral values in people at large.

It provides a portal for the internet savvy youth of today to interact with these people. This not only evokes the feeling of responsibility towards their society, in the educated and resourceful people, but also guides them of the ways and means to make their contribution towards development of the weaker sections of society.

01 Jan 10 Greater Good Talk

After a year of blogging on www.zhagdoo.com, the brains behind it thought of taking the next step. With more than 200 posts on any and almost every topic, it was decided to work on things in a particular direction, which benefits everyone in some way or the other. This is where www.greatergoodtalk.com comes into picture, with the help and guidance a Delhi based NGO ‘Sanskar Prerna Manch’.

What is ‘Greater Good Talk’ about?

Being a management student you come across new things everyday. These things are all meant to inspire you to think out of the box, do something different and new. But they all are dispersed in a large pool, where you are required to locate them in order to excel. This is where the problem arises, not only for management students, but for everyone who is looking out to get inspired.

The world is full of experiences, all of which cannot be taken in one lifetime. There is so much to learn and so little time. That’s why it is said a wise man is one who learns from other’s experiences. However it is not everyday we find people with experiences to learn from. Moreover most of the time we are hesitant to ask them and sometimes, even they are reluctant to share.

Greater Good Talk is to get to know the people whom you always wanted to talk to. So many news channels and talk shows are already doing this, and they are doing a good job. But then so many times after listening to some interview or after watching some talk show, we feel that some things have been left unanswered or certain integral things were completely absent. We have so many questions to ask, but lack the platform and opportunity to do so. Greater Good Talk is about these moments only. It is a user customized panel which provides you with the chance to ask what you want to know and not what the interviewer is interested in.

The concept is simple; the users will frame the questionnaire of what they want to ask to whom. We will just act as a channel whose job will be to get you the answers to all those things which you want to know. The whole interview will be custom made and available to you when you want, where you want and in the form you want.

A friend after listening to the concept told me, this is what social entrepreneurship all about. But we are not social entrepreneurs doing something to tackle social problem. Just few people trying to bring out some changes not in the society, but in people who are actually looking forward to change, who are more than game to get inspired for their benefit, for other’s benefit. People who are not taking about you or me; but people who are talking about greater good.
